Troy Randall Brown Jr. was born in 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada and is the son of Lynn and Troy Brown Sr. Lynn ran track and Troy Sr. played basketball at Texas A&M University--Kingsville. Troy's sister Jada also played basketball at the University of Kansas. Brown played high school ball at Centennial H.S. in Las Vegas. At the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship, Brown was a member of the gold-medal USA squad. Brown was named First Team All-Nevada by USA Today in 2016. He was also named to the McDonald's All-American Game in 2017, where he scored 12 points with seven rebounds. Fans can learn more about Brown on Twitter (@Troy_Brown33). After garnering high school recognition as the 2016-17 Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year, Brown played his lone college season with Oregon in 2017-18. The talented freshman immediately slotted into a starting role with the Ducks, playing 35 games and averaging 31.2 minutes. Brown displayed his all-around skill by leading the squad with 6.2 rebounds per game and ranking second with 3.2 assists. He also chipped in 11.3 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 74.3 percent from the line. On the defensive end, Brown excelled with a team-high 1.6 steals per contest. His strong play helped Oregon earn an NIT bid. In the opening round of the tournament, Brown posted a well-rounded stat line with seven points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in a win over Rider. Brown declared for the 2018 NBA Draft following his freshman season and was selected 15th overall by the Wizards.
